Comfort Care
Our goal is that you be totally comfortable
throughout any dental procedure. We tell all our patients,
“If at any time you are uncomfortable during a
procedure, just let us know and we will stop and take
care of it for you.” With today’s minimally
invasive dental procedures, many services can be performed
comfortably without anesthetic. In the event that anesthetic
is needed there are a few key steps we take which enable
a pain free injection.
Four Critical Steps to Painless Injections
1. Topical anesthetic
2. Anesthetic warmed to body temperature
3. ph neutral anesthetic
4. INJECT SLOWLY
For the Anxious Patient
We never want to use any more anesthetic or
sedation than what is necessary to get the job done
comfortably, but for some people past experiences create
a barrier to dental care that they just can't get past
on their own. For these patients, building trust, confidence
and no fear dental appointments may have to start with
some kind of sedative to get through the first few appointments.
Sedatives
Sedatives are taken half an hour to an hour
before your appointments. They are usually taken orally
and can be given along with Nitrous Oxide for added
effect.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous Oxide is a safe, effective way to relieve
anxiety associated with dental procedures. The drug
is a gas and is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through
a mask which fits over your nose.
Sleep Dentistry - Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral Conscious Sedation is the deepest form
of sedation we use at the Atrium Dental Center. Most
patients using this form of sedation are in and out
of sleep throughout most of their treatment. The patient
is not conscious of time and frequently remembers little
or nothing about the treatment. Blood pressure, heart
rate and blood oxygen level are monitored throughout
your treatment time.
