1. My teeth are crooked and have spaces between them. Is there a faster way than braces to make them more attractive?

2. If I have a tooth missing, do I really need to replace it?

In most cases, yes. Replacing missing teeth restores both function and esthetics and will prevent further problems. If a space is left untreated, adjacent or opposing teeth may tip, shift or erupt. This could lead to bite problems, periodontall disease and/or tooth decay. There are several options for replacing missing teeth. You and your dentist can decide which is best for you.

3. What are porcelain veneers?

A porcelain veneer is a thin shell of tooth-colored porcelain which is bonded to the front surface and the biting edge of a tooth. Very little tooth reduction is necessary. They can be used to close spaces, straighten the look of teeth, and to create a better proportioned smile. Go to our makeover gallery to view teeth treated with porcelain veneers.

4. Can I replace the old silver fillings in my teeth?

Yes. In many cases I think there is reason to do this, and I see many back teeth with large silver fillings fracture due to stresses produced by the amalgam (silver) fillings. There have been innovative advancements in tooth-colored resins and porcelain material that provide both cosmetic advantages and the strength of amalgam fillings, especially in back teeth.

6. Can I get back the smile I had when I was younger even though my teeth have worn down over the years?

In many instances, the answer is yes. When considering this type of treatment it is important to consider the whole mouth as a functional and esthetic unit. See our feature case in the makeover gallery to view a treatment for a worn mouth.
